The Orange County high school baseball preseason top 10:

BASEBALL TOP 10

1. Orange Lutheran: The Lancers are a mega-talented team with plenty of experience, including All-Trinity League senior pitcher Louis Rodriguez and senior catcher Karson Bowen. They both have committed to Texas Christian University.

2. JSerra: The Lions have their usual large number of skilled players, including LSU-committed sophomore pitcher/third baseman Matt Champion and Vanderbilt-committed senior pitcher/first baseman David Horn, but few of them played much varsity baseball last season.

3. Huntington Beach: Arizona State-committed junior catcher Ralph Velasquez leads the Oilers who could be Orange County’s top public-school team again.

4. Servite: The Friars might have their best baseball team in decades, including three players committed to UCLA: left-handed pitcher Chris Grothues, outfielder Jarrons Hocking and junior shortstop/pitcher Roman Martin.

5. Cypress: The roster is deep with talented and experienced players, including junior pitcher/outfielder Matthew Morrell, who committed to Oregon State, and San Jose State-committed outfielder Neil Jansen.

6. Santa Margarita: The Eagles roster is heavy with juniors, but they are most of them played regularly last season, including Stanford-committed pitcher Jack Svinth and Washington-committed infielder Blake Wilson.

7. Foothill: Pitching depth will be a strength for the Knights, and scoring runs won’t be a problem. The roster includes center fielder Austin Overn (USC signee), second baseman Brady Schrank and third baseman/pitcher Aiden Taurek.

8. Villa Park: Junior shortstop Gavin Grahovac is widely acclaimed as Orange County’s best player, and the Spartans also have USC-signed catcher Jack Burke, infielder/pitcher Zach Brown and outfielder/pitcher AJ Kodel.

9. Capistrano Valley: The Cougars feature a deep pitching staff led by senior right-hander Brady Disbro (Mississippi signee), and Mason McGwire (Oklahoma signee).

10. Dana Hills: The Dolphins will be stellar on the mound with Washington State-bound senior lefty Grant Faris, and senior right-hander Bo Kelly, who was a standout quarterback this past fall.
