A mountain lion was spotted Saturday near the crossing of Marguerite Parkway and Alicia Parkway near Lake Mission Viejo, Mission Viejo officials said.
The Mission Viejo Animal Services Center received that there was no incident involving the animal and after 45 minutes in the area, the lion swam across the lake toward the Mollorca Condominium Community.
Mountain lions are able to swim, but rarely and only when necessary, a city statement said.
The city statement said that anyone seeing a mountain lion should report the sighting immediately to Mission Viejo Animal Services at 949-470-3045 or the Orange County Sheriff’s Department at 949-770-6011.
