An Orange County court on Tuesday rejected the Angels motion to disqualify attorney Rusty Hardin’s firm from representing Tyler Skaggs’ widow in a wrongful death lawsuit.

The Angels filed the motion on the basis that Hardin’s firm had briefly worked with an attorney who had previously spoken to the Angels about the case, thereby violating the Angels’ attorney-client privilege.

Judge Glenn Salter, of the Orange County Superior Court, heard arguments from both sides last week and ruled Tuesday that the conversations between Angels attorney Alex Winsberg and Mike Attanasio did not meet the standard to be covered by attorney-client privilege.

The Angels also have a similar challenge pending in Texas, where Skaggs’ parents are the plaintiffs in a suit against the Angels.
