Santa Anita, in consultation with the Thoroughbred Owners of California and the California Horse Racing Board, has moved Friday’s eight-race card to Monday because of impending rain.
Friday’s weather forecast calls for a 90% chance of rain in Arcadia, prompting the postponement. The first post on Monday will be 12:30 p.m. It will be an exact replica of what had been scheduled for Friday.
Monday’s forecast is for sunny skies with temperatures in the high 60s.
Saturday is Santa Anita Handicap Day, with six graded stakes – three Grade I races and three Grade IIs – among the 11 scheduled races. It’s also the inaugural 1/ST Saturday, featuring 15 stakes races at Santa Anita and its sister track, Gulfstream Park in Florida.
The first post at Santa Anita on Saturday is scheduled for noon.
