The Dana Hills boys basketball team lost to Bishop Diego 54-52 in the CIF Southern Section Division 3A championship game on Friday at Bishop Diego High in Santa Barbara.
Freshman guard Collin Haugh led Dana Hills (19-10) with 16 points. His brother Griffin Haugh scored 14 points.
Tyler Williams, a 6-3 senior forward, led Bishop Diego (23-7) with 24 points.
Dana Hills coach Tom Desiano said the game was close from opening tip to the final buzzer.
“We were down by two points with 11 seconds left when we got the ball back,” Desiano said. “We ran an isolation play but we missed a tough 3-pointer at the end. We had a chance to win it there but we just missed.”
Dana Hills and Bishop Diego will play in the CIF Southern California Regional playoffs that begin Tuesday. The brackets for the regional games will be released Sunday.
The win extended the Cardinals’ winning streak to 13 games.
