Shay Kletke allowed two runs on two hits and Leyla Ayres and Arianna Salas each drove in two runs as Pacifica’s softball team beat Orange Lutheran 6-2 in the quarterfinals of the Dave Kops Tournament of Champions in Bullhead City, Ariz. on Friday.
In defeating the No. 1 team in the Orange County preseason rankings, Pacifica (7-2) advanced to face Murrieta Mesa in the semifinals Saturday.
Pacifica center fielder Mattea Stern, who is committed to Arizona, walked twice and scored three runs in the five-inning game. Natalie Pacheco added two of the Mariners’ seven hits.
Murrieta Mesa defeated Agoura 6-1 to reach the semifinals.
In another quarterfinal Friday:
JSerra 2, Norco 0: Liliana Escobar fired a three-hit shutout with 13 strikeouts and Zena Edwards drove in two runs in the first inning to lead the Lions (9-0) into the semifinals.
Escobar, who signed with Florida, walked one in six innings.
In the semifinals, JSerra plays La Mirada, which beat Fullerton 5-0 in another quarterfinal.
JSerra started the tournament with an 8-4 win in eight innings against Westlake in the play-in round Thursday.
