All-County defensive lineman Marcus Fakatou has left Orange Lutheran and enrolled at Sierra Canyon, Trailblazers coach and athletic director Jon Ellinghouse confirmed Thursday.
Fakatou (6-7, 275) earned first-team All-County honors this past season as a sophomore after leading the Lancers in sacks (seven) and tackles for loss (17). He recorded 69 total tackles.
Fakatou was selected the Trinity League’s co-most valuable lineman.
In November, Fakatou confirmed that he will reclassify to become part of the Class of 2027. The move leaves him with one more high school football season.
“I was fortunate to be able to play varsity in the Trinity League as a freshman,” he said of the decision. “I’m almost done with my sophomore year and I just feel confident that after the season next year, I’ll be ready to move on to the next level.”
Rivals ranks Fakatou as the No. 3 recruit for the Class of 2027 in California behind Cathedral Catholic athlete Honor Fa’alave-Johnson and Long Beach Poly cornerback Donte Wright.
At Sierra Canyon, Fakatou will team on the defensive line with the No. 4-rated senior Kasi Currie (6-4, 315).
Orange Lutheran sophomore wide receiver Landon Ressler also has transferred to Sierra Canyon, Ellinghouse confirmed. Ressler had 14 catches for 184 yards and one touchdown last season.
In 2025, Sierra Canyon (10-1) lost to eventual champion Santa Margarita in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs. Orange Lutheran beat St. John Bosco in the first round of the playoffs before falling to Santa Margarita.
In early February, Orange Lutheran split with coach Rod Sherman after five seasons.
He was introduced this week as the women’s flag football coach at Cal Poly SLO.
Sierra Canyon plays host to Orange Lutheran on Sept. 18.
