A 19-year-old man was charged with murder in the stabbing death of a homeless man in Anaheim late Sunday night, Feb. 8, authorities said.
The stabbing was reported around 11:45 p.m. in an alley on the 2000 block of East Ball Road,near State College Boulevard, where Hieu Quan Nguyen allegedly stabbed Dennis Edward Welsch Jr., 60, according to Anaheim Police Department spokesman Sgt. Matt Sutter.
Nguyen was arrested about an hour later, Sutter said. The relationship between the suspect and the victim, as well as a possible motive, were not immediately known to authorities.
Nguyen was charged Wednesday, Feb. 11, with murder and a sentencing enhancement for the personal use of a deadly weapon.
