Wonder why homebuying in Orange County is such a financial challenge?
Here’s another reason: Orange County had 60 million-dollar ZIP codes in the three months ended in October – two more than a year earlier.
There were 4,781 sales in communities with five or more sales and a median selling price of $1 million, says Attom data. That’s up 1% vs. the previous year and was 74% of countywide sales.
The busiest seven-figure ZIP was Laguna Niguel 92677 with 192 sales. Prices ranged from $5.5 million in Newport Coast 92657 to $1 million in Garden Grove 92841.
Just 24 ZIPs had medians under $1 million. Their total sales of 1,652 were off 3% in a year.
The busiest sub-million ZIP was La Habra 90631 with 120 sales. Other sub-$1 million median prices ranged from $970,500 in Irvine 92614 to $442,900 in Laguna Woods 92637.
Knowing all of this, it’s easy to see why the countywide median sales price was $1.2 million for these three months. That was up 1.4% in a year. That cost didn’t entice with 6,446 sales, down 0.2% over 12 months.
