Coronavirus: Orange County reported 633 new cases and 19 more deaths, Feb. 16

The OC Health Care Agency reported 633 new cases of the coronavirus on Wednesday, Feb. 16, increasing the cumulative total since tracking began in the county to 534,132.

There were 13,966 new cases reported in the last two-week period as of Wednesday.

There were 415 patients testing positive for COVID-19 reported in Orange County hospitals, with 79 people in intensive care units.

The county reported 19 more deaths on Wednesday, increasing the count of those who have died from the virus in Orange County to 6,395.

The data on deaths in the county is compiled from death certificates or gathered through the course of case investigations and can take weeks to process. The most recent death recorded was on Feb. 9.

Of the 6,395 deaths reported from the virus, 1,265 were skilled nursing facility residents, 660 were in assisted living facilities, two were O.C. jail inmates and 19 were listed as homeless.

It is estimated 490,297 people have recovered from the virus. The count of people who have recovered is based on the prior 28-day cumulative case count.
