Five Phoenix police officers were shot Friday morning after being called to a home, the police chief said.
In a statement shortly after 6 a.m., Chief Jeri Williams said the five were in the hospital.
She said they had been shot outside a southwest Phoenix home where a domestic violence incident had been reported. A baby had been placed in a carrier outside the door, and when the officers approached, someone inside began shooting.
Police returned fire, and the shooter barricaded himself or herself in the home.
Williams said a woman was also critically injured, but she gave no details. The baby was reportedly unhurt.
Around 7 a.m., the police said the “barricade situation had been resolved.”
