Six Flags Magic Mountain will bring one of its popular homegrown characters from Scream Break to Fright Fest in a new drag queen-inspired musical revue that will crown a different winner each show based on crowd reaction.

“Margo Rita’s Monster Ball” will serve as the headline entertainment during the Fright Fest 2025 haunted event running on select nights from Friday, Sept. 19 through Nov. 2 at the Valencia amusement park.

“It’s a song and dance competition with a whole cast of dancers,” Six Flags Magic Mountain Entertainment and Events Manager Mike Ostrom said. “It’s a very colorful, high-energy show with live vocalists.”

The new 20-minute show will be hosted by Margo Rita — who was a breakout sensation during the Scream Break after-hours haunted event that ran during Spring Break at Magic Mountain.

“She had a huge following with our guests,” Six Flags Magic Mountain Entertainment Operations and Show Production Supervisor Alicia Knab said. “We brought her back for special events here and there and we decided that this year it was time for her to have her own show.”

The song and dance competition will feature three competitors — Sapphire Martini, Bloody Mary and April Spritz. Tequila Sunrise will serve as a sidekick to Margo Rita during breaks between musical performances.

“It’s basically Margo’s dancers competing to become the new Queen of Fright Fest,” Ostrom said during an online video interview. “Margo is the queen currently, but she’s going to choose her successor.”

Margo Rita and her monster partner Tequila Sunrise will wear prosthetic makeup to add a horror vibe to the show.

“It’s definitely got a Halloween influence,” Ostrom said.

The show will kick off to “Thriller” by Michael Jackson. The trio of performers will provide live vocals to “Abracadabra” by Lady Gaga, “Sweet But Psycho” by Ava Max and “Queen of the Night” by Whitney Houston.

“Margo Rita’s Monster Ball” will be influenced by reality TV competition shows like “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and “Queen of the Universe.”

“It’s not a drag show, but is inspired by and includes popular motifs, energy and fun,” Ostrom said. “Our creative team is very excited about bringing that culture and look to our event.”

Margo and Tequila will introduce each performer between sets and survey the crowd at the end of the show to pick the new Queen of Fright Fest.

“The crowd reactions dictate the winner,” Ostrom said.

The newly crowned queen — who will vary show to show — will dance to “Vogue” by Madonna during the finale.

“Margo Rita’s Monster Ball” will play three times a night at 9, 10 and 11 p.m. on the Full Throttle Stage during Fright Fest.

Fright Fest 2025 will feature eight haunted mazes, nine scare zones and three live shows at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

Drag queens will also play a central role this Halloween season at Six Flags sister park Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park.

The Boulet Brothers will serve as the face of Knott’s Scary Farm 2025. The drag queen horror icons host the Emmy-nominated “Boulet Brothers’ Dragula” reality competition television show on the Shudder and AMC+ streaming services.
