LOS ANGELES — Another round of Santa Ana winds is heading for Southern California, with forecasters warning of gusty conditions Tuesday night into Wednesday, particularly in mountain areas.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory that will be in effect from 4 p.m. Tuesday to noon Wednesday for the Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area, Los Angeles County mountains and the Santa Clarita and San Fernando valleys.

Forecasters said winds could reach 20 mph to 30 mph, with mountains gusts up to 50 mph and the valleys seeing gusts up to 45 mph.

Coastal areas will also experience increased winds, with gusts of up to 35 mph possible by early Wednesday, according to the weather service. But as of Monday afternoon, no wind advisories have been issued for the coastal areas.

“These gusty winds, especially over the mountains and valleys, will bring the potential for hazardous driving conditions for high-profile vehicles and downed trees and power lines,” according to the NWS.

In Orange County, a wind advisory will be in effect from 4 p.m. Tuesday to 10 a.m. Wednesday in inland areas and in the Santa Ana Mountains and foothills. Those areas could also see gusts of up to 50 mph, mainly in the mountains, according to the NWS.

No wind advisories are in effect for the San Gabriel Valley, where winds Tuesday are expected to blow from the northeast at 5 to 10 mph with 15 mph gusts, increasing to 10 to 15 mph with 25 mph gusts Tuesday night into Wednesday.

In Claremont, which was hit by particularly strong winds over the weekend, no wind advisory was declared, but winds were expected to blow from the north-northwest at 5 to 15 mph Tuesday, then from the northeast in the afternoon with 20 mph gusts. Winds will increase to 15 to 20 mph with 30 mph gusts Tuesday night into Wednesday, losing some strength Wednesday evening.

A wind advisory has been issued for the San Bernardino and Riverside County valleys and mountains, the Santa Ana Mountains and the Orange County inland areas — including the cities of Riverside, San Bernardino, Fontana, Rancho Cucamonga, Corona, Crestline, Running Springs, Orange and Mission Viejo, according to the NWS. The advisory will be in effect from 4 p.m. Tuesday through 10 a.m. Wednesday, with northeast winds from 15 to 25 mph with 50 mph gusts.

The offshore flow will elevate temperatures by Wednesday, with coastal areas and valleys reaching into the mid-70s, and the warm conditions lasting into Thursday, forecasters said. Typically warmer areas could have temperatures around 80.
