Things will begin to cool down as Southern Californians head into the Labor Day weekend, with mostly sunny skies and a slight chance of showers in Orange County and the Inland Empire.

Coastal areas in Orange County will see highs in the low to mid-70s, with a slight chance of overnight showers. Saturday is expected to be the hottest day, from 76 degrees in San Clemente to 72 in Newport Beach. Folks planning on attending the Orange International Street Fair, which begins on Friday, Sept. 1, can enjoy the outdoor food and music celebrations with highs in the low 80s throughout the weekend.

Temperatures will cool down significantly in the Inland Empire, with a 10 to 20 percent chance of thunderstorms. Areas that experienced triple-digit weather last week can expect highs in the upper 80s on Friday and Saturday, including 87 degrees in Riverside and Lake Elsinore and 89 degrees in San Bernardino.

Mountain areas in San Bernardino County can expect mostly sunny weather on Monday, with partly cloudy skies and a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms through the weekend.

In Los Angeles County, there’s a forecast of mostly cloudy skies with a 30 to 40 percent chance of showers over the weekend but the weather is expected to clear up by Monday. On Labor Day, partly cloudy skies in the morning should make way for sunny weather with highs in the mid-70s to lower 80s, with 72 in Redondo Beach and an estimated 75 degrees in the Long Beach area, just in time for the 14th annual Conquer the Bridge Race.

By Friday evening, the San Fernando and San Gabriel Valley will see lows in the upper 50s to mid-60s, with highs in the upper 70s to mid-80s on Saturday, including 82 in Woodland Hills and West Covina.
