NFL Weekly Sports Breakdown:
A week after taking a stumble under the primetime lights, the Los Angeles Rams get another chance on Monday Night Football. This time they’re traveling upstate to face their arch nemeses, the San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium. While the Rams have been riding high all season, the 49ers have taken a while to get going thanks to their usual problem; injuries. These two franchises have a long and storied history and it’s ironic, because they’re both rarely good at the same time. This will be their 144th meeting and the 49ers lead the series 73-67-3. Perhaps more important for this match-up, Kyle Shanahan is 5-3 against the LA’s Sean McVay as the Niners head coach, including four consecutive victories. Jimmy Garopplo, as San Fran’s starter, has never dropped a game to the Rams.

LOS ANGELES RAMS AT SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (+4, O/U: 49)Location: Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, Calif.Broadcast: ESPNKickoff: Nov. 15, 8:15 p.m.
LOS ANGELES RAMS (7-2)
Los Angeles comes into this one after an embarrassing 28-16 home loss to the Tennessee Titans last Sunday night. It broke a four game win streak and while the LA defense pretty much shut Tennessee down, it was the offense, specifically Matthew Stafford, that served the ball up twice in the first quarter that made all the difference. Stafford bounced back, but couldn’t dig the Rams out of the hole and lot of that had to do with Tennessee’s front, who dominated the contest from the opening whistle. Stafford was sacked five times in the game after only being sacked seven times in the previous eight. He did throw for 294 and a touchdown, but his interceptions were brutal and one was returned for a touchdown. Stafford is the active leader in the NFL for throwing pick-sixes. LA’s defense was pretty spectacular nonetheless, sacking Ryan Tannehill three times and holding the Titans to just 194 total yards of offense.
SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (3-5)
The Niners had the chance to knock off the Arizona Cardinals B-team, but never got close, falling 31-17 at home. Jimmy Garopplo threw for 326 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. San Francisco got nothing going on the ground, rushing for just 39 yards as a team. George Kittle, in his first significant action since coming off injured reserve, caught six passes for 101 yards and a touchdown. The 49ers sacked Colt McCoy twice.
THE PICK
Shanahan’s match up advantage in this one can not be underplayed. For whatever reason, he can flummox whatever McVay does and he boasts a similar defensive line to the Titans. That means LA needs a new plan of attack. McVay has it in him and I like Los Angeles to win, but not cover. Not on the road against the Niners. Rams 27, 49ers 24
