The USC men’s basketball team remained perfect – barely.

The No. 20 Trojans survived a trip to Pullman, Washington, to come away with a 63-61 victory over a tough Washington State team on Saturday afternoon.

The win kept the Trojans (8-0, 2-0 Pac-12) as one of 12 undefeated Division I teams, but it wasn’t easy.

A wide-open Chevez Goodwin took a pass from Boogie Ellis and converted a three-point play, giving USC the two-point lead with 16.6 seconds left.

Washington State (6-2, 1-1) went for the tie, but Max Agbonkpolo deflected a Noah Williams jumper to tie the game, with Josh Morgan gathering the ball and getting fouled with 6.2 seconds left.

Morgan missed the front end of the one-and-one, giving Washington State one last chance. Williams got a good look and hoisted a potential winning 3-pointer at the buzzer, only to have it clank off the rim short as the Trojans celebrated the win.

Goodwin led USC with 14 points. Drew Peterson added 13 points.
