The Rams have tabbed Mike LaFleur as their next offensive coordinator.

LaFleur, the offensive coordinator for the New York Jets the past two seasons, is scheduled to sign with the Rams later this week, a source confirmed to the Southern California News Group.

LaFleur is the first of many new faces expected on Sean McVay’s revamped coaching staff after a disappointing 5-12 season. The Rams reportedly fired special teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis, offensive line coach Kevin Carberry, defensive backs coach Jonathan Cooley, assistant defensive line coach Skyler Jones and defensive assistant Lance Schulters.

LaFleur will replace Liam Coen, who recently left to return to Kentucky as the program’s offensive play caller. LaFleur parted ways with the Jets mainly because the team struggled to develop quarterback Zach Wilson, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 draft.

But LaFleur has a decorated coaching résumé as a former passing game coordinator for 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan. LaFleur, the younger brother of Packers coach Matt LaFleur, spent seven seasons learning under Shanahan with stints in San Francisco, Atlanta and Cleveland.

The Rams are waiting to see who will coach with McVay and LaFleur to repair the team’s offense, which averaged 18.1 points per game in 2022, fifth worst in the NFL.

Rams quarterbacks coach Zac Robinson, assistant head coach Thomas Brown and senior offensive assistant Greg Olson have all interviewed for the Chargers’ offensive coordinator opening. Robinson is also in the mix for the Ravens’ offensive coordinator job. Brown is a candidate for the Commanders’ offensive coordinator opening and has interviewed with the Houston Texans for the head coach position.
