Put your finishing touch on a Rose Parade float and volunteer to decorate one of about 43 entries in this year’s 134th event.

Join in the final stages of preparations and learn how to apply different kinds of seeds, bark, fruits, vegetables, grasses, and flowers. Contact the float builders directly to find more information on volunteering. Ask about minimum age requirements. Dress warmly and comfortably.

La Cañada-Flintridge’s Tournament of Roses float is awaiting the new year at 4524 Hampton Road, on the corner of Foothill Boulevard and Hampton. To volunteer to decorate, call (626) 355-7005 or visit smrosefloat.org.

“Spark of Imagination” is the title for South Pasadena’s Rose Parade float. Decorating headquarters is at 435 Fair Oaks Avenue, behind the War Memorial Building, in South Pasadena. For more information, email [email protected] or visit sptor.org.

If you’d rather just watch the work, get tickets to Rosemont Pavilion in Pasadena and see pros and volunteers toil away. Admission is $20. Children 5 and under are admitted free. Decorating Days are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29; Friday, Dec. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 31, at Rosemont Pavilion, 700 Seco St., Pasadena. Parking is free and available near the pavilion and Jackie Robinson Baseball Field.
