Kevin Conroy, who voiced Batman in television, movies and video games since 1992 has died, according to a press release from Warner Bros. He was 66.

“Kevin was far more than an actor whom I had the pleasure of casting and directing—he was a dear friend for 30+ years whose kindness and generous spirit knew no boundaries,” said casting director Andrea Romano in the press release. “Kevin’s warm heart, delightfully deep laugh and pure love of life will be with me forever.”

Conroy first voiced the character in the hit animated series “Batman: The Animated Series” and went on to be the man who has played the character more times than anyone else with appearances in other television shows, video games and movies. He even played a live-action version of Bruce Wayne in an episode of “Batwoman” in 2019. His most recent Batman work was for the video game “MultiVersus.”

Actor Mark Hamill, who voiced The Joker alongside Conroy’s Batman, echoed how much he was loved.

“He was one of my favorite people on the planet, and I loved him like a brother. He truly cared for the people around him —his decency shone through everything he did. Every time I saw him or spoke with him, my spirits were elevated,” Hamill said.
