CORVALLIS, Ore. — USC finally got to see its top-rated recruit from the 2022 recruiting class take the field on Saturday as cornerback Domani Jackson made his collegiate debut on the road against Oregon State.
The top-rated prospect out of California in the latest recruiting cycle, Jackson suffered a knee injury as a senior at Mater Dei that kept him out of much of spring practices. He was a full participant at the start of fall camp but another leg injury kept him out of the first three games of the season.
Jackson was targeted immediately on his first snap. Though the pass was completed, he came up with the tackle.
The true freshman was used as part of a package to combat Oregon State’s heavy run packages during the first half.
Haskins gets start
Virginia graduate transfer Bobby Haskins got the start for the second straight week at left tackle.
Haskins and redshirt sophomore Courtland Ford started the season alternating series, with Ford operating as the de facto starter. But Ford injured his ankle in Week 2 against Stanford.
Like last week against Fresno State, Ford warmed up with the team. But when the action started, Haskins started and remained in the game for the entire first half. Ford was on the sideline riding the stationary bike and staying warm with teammates, but did not enter the game in the first half.
