Three men and two women were behind bars on Tuesday, Sept. 20, accused of being involved in the killing of a South Gate man found dead along the shoreline in Long Beach last year or of a subsequent crime tied to the case, authorities said.

Long Beach police made three arrests on Sept. 1 and Sept. 13, police said this week. Two others were already in custody for unrelated allegations.

On April 26, 2021, Long Beach Harbor Patrol units were near Pier F when they saw a decomposing body floating near the water’s edge. The victim was identified as Christopher Cordova, 27.

Police have not disclosed how Cordova died, other than to say he had an upper-body injury, which led officers to believe he was the victim of a homicide. How police tied the suspects to the crime was not disclosed, either, but police did say they believed the attack was gang-related.

Arrested were:

Miguel Gallardo, 29, of Lynwood, who was arrested Sept. 1 in Los Angeles on suspicion of murder.
Yessica Hernandez, 33, of Anaheim, who was arrested Sept. 1 in Los Angeles on suspicion of being an accessory after the fact.
Tatiana Pinon, 24, of Norwalk, who was arrested Sept. 13 in Norwalk on suspicion of being an accessory after the fact.

Christopher Deckard, 37, of Arcadia and Richard Granados, 37, of Norwalk were already in custody and charged with murder. Jail records show Granados was arrested in June and Deckard has been in custody since June 2021.
