A historic Floral Park home that has been in the family of late Segerstrom family matriarch Ruth Ann Moriarty for more than 60 years is available for $2.999 million.

Spanning 5,375 square feet, the 1929 Tudor Revival-style residence on Victoria Drive includes five bedrooms, four bathrooms and an old-fashioned British pub.

Moriarty, who died in January two weeks shy of her 100th birthday, was the older sister of late South Coast Plaza developer Henry T. Segerstrom and the last surviving sibling in a family that contributed to the region’s growth. She was living back east when she and her husband, Eugene, moved their family into the house in the Floral Park neighborhood around 1960.

According to Moriarty’s eldest son Richard, his grandparents Anton and Nellie Ruth Segerstrom paid $40,000 for the house near their own at the corner.

“My grandfather was dying of cancer, and they wanted us to be out here,” he said.

The house sits on approximately a half-acre lot inhabited by 100-year-old redwoods and a towering oak tree described in the listing as “ancient.”

A grand foyer leads to the main living areas.

The kitchen has a walk-through butler’s pantry to the dining room.

A fireplace anchors the living room and primary bedroom, which has two closets and an updated bathroom with a glass-enclosed ADA-compliant shower finished in marble, a separate tub and double sinks.

The house has a commercial elevator.

There’s a 1,000-square-foot attic, with hardwood flooring, and a 400-square-foot basement for a future home theater or wine cellar.

Two-foot-thick brick and stucco walls, solid mahogany banisters and doors, and another three fireplaces add to the offerings.

A detached three-car garage sits at the end of the long gated driveway.

Richard Moriarty holds the listing through Moriarty and Associates.

The home originally belonged to Robert G. Tuthill, who ran the Smith and Tuthill Mortuary in Santa Ana with business partner George Smith. It is one of five Orange County properties owned by Moriarty, including a three-bedroom, 2,996-square-foot Monterrey Revival-style residence next door that records show sold Aug. 25 for $2.1 million.

Floral Park is a historic district with more than 600 homes, most of which date from the 1920s through the ’50s. A third of those homes are on the Santa Ana Register of Historic Properties. The house, which is no longer listed as of August 2003, was listed for $4.9 million as recently as July.
