An Orange County Sheriff’s deputy was arrested Friday, Aug. 12 on suspicion of sexually assaulting two female inmates at an Orange County jail.
Deputy Arcadio Rodriguez, 30, is accused of having inappropriate relationships with both inmates at the Theo Lacy Facility beginning in May.
He sexually assaulted the women on multiple occasions separately by touching them over their clothes and showing them pornography, a news release said.
Rodriguez was placed on administrative leave on Aug. 9, one day after the department became aware of communication intercepted by jail staff describing the misconduct, the release said. The type of communication was not described.
He was booked into Santa Ana Jail Friday on felony sexual activity between a peace officer and inmate in a jail facility, and misdemeanor charges of assault under the color of authority and possession of a cell phone in a custody facility.
Rodriguez has been with the sheriff’s department since September 2021. The department is firing him, the release said.
Authorities declined to say where he was arrested.
The case will be forwarded to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution. The Office of Independent Review also will investigate.
