Primavera Sound Los Angeles announces standalone shows by some of the festival acts

The Primavera Sound Festival, which comes to downtown Los Angeles for three days in September, announced plans for Primavera In The City, a series of standalone shows by festival artists before and after the main event.

The shows include such acts as Giveon, Stereolab and Darkside and will take place in venues including the Wiltern, Hollywood Forever Cemetery and the Echo.

Primavera Sound Los Angeles is the United States debut of Primavera Sound, a Spanish festival based in Barcelona since 2001. The festival headliners include Lorde, Nine Inch Nails and Arctic Monkeys and it takes place Sept. 16-18 at Los Angeles State Historic Park near Chinatown in downtown Los Angeles. Other artists on the bill of about 60 acts include James Blake, Mitski, Clairo and Khruangbin.

Tickets for the Primavera In The City shows go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, July 29 at primaverasound.com.

Here is the full lineup of shows.

Sept. 13: New Orleans’ punk band Special Interest at The Echo; French singer Jehnny Beth of both Savages and Johnny and Jehnny at Zebulon.

Sept. 14: Electronic/ambient musician Tim Hecker at the Pico Union Project; Mexican rock band Little Jesus with American-Colombian psychedelic rockers Divino Niño at the Echoplex; Electronic rock group Darkside at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.

Sept. 15: Swedish alternative R&B group Drain Gang at the Hollywood Palladium; English-French electronica band Stereolab at the Wiltern; Long Beach R&B singer Giveon at Hollywood Forever Cemetery.

Sept. 16: Spanish singer Bad Gyal at the Echoplex.

Sept. 20: Japanese all-female rock band Chai at The Echo.
