SANTA ANA — Two men were charged Wednesday with leading police on a chase and carrying out a gang-related shooting in La Habra that left a man fighting for his life.
Kareem Roman and Cesar Alatorre were charged in connection with the shooting Sunday night at Walnut Street and First Avenue.
Police were called at 7:49 p.m. Sunday to the intersection regarding a shots fired call. When officers arrived they found the victim, who is in his early 30s, suffering from a gunshot wound and rushed him to an area hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
The victim was still hospitalized Wednesday, police said.
Roman was charged with attempted murder, discharge of a gun at a vehicle and leading police on a chase, all felonies, as well as a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest.
He also faces sentencing enhancements for a gang member vicarious discharge of a gun causing great bodily injury and attempted premeditated murder.
Alatorre was charged with attempted murder and discharge of a gun at a vehicle, both felonies, and faces sentencing enhancements involving attempted premeditated murder and a gang-related shooting causing great bodily injury.
