A second suspect was arrested in the February fatal shooting of a Signal Hill man near Long Beach Polytechnic High School, police announced Wednesday, June 1.

Detectives arrested Jalen Jackson, 19, of Long Beach on suspicion of murder in the Feb. 2 killing of Nashon Wall, 31, in the area of 5th Street and Long Beach Boulevard, the Long Beach Police Department said in a news release. Jackson was being held on $2 million bail, authorities said.

Detectives were still trying to determine the motive for the killing as of Wednesday, police said.

Wall was found shot in the roadway next to his parked car in the 700 block of East Esther Street, near Atlantic Avenue, and was taken to a hospital where he died of his injuries, police said.

On March 9, an arrest warrant was issued for 20-year old Saeed Wheeler of Anaheim for Wall’s killing, but it turned out that Wheeler was in the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department’s custody on an unrelated charge, authorities said. Wheeler was charged with murder, one count of possession of a firearm by a felon and one count of unlawful possession of ammunition in addition to his other charges, police said.

It wasn’t immediately clear if there were any remaining outstanding suspects in the investigation.
