Marisela Robles was at home in Anaheim on Thursday morning, packing for a trip to Puerto Vallarta, when suddenly she heard a boom.
A white pickup veered off a road and slammed through a wall, landing right where she had been seated just seconds before.
“I’m facing the window and all of a sudden, the (truck) literally jumps into my living room and everything goes flying,” Robles said.
“Literally, the AC unit goes flying and I think that’s what hits me,” she told a freelance videographer with OC Hawk, pointing to a gash on her right shoulder.
Robles said the driver reeked of alcohol and initially tried to escape, but others at the home held him down until officers arrived.
The crash occurred in the 1500 block of Romneya Drive, on the corner with Dresden Place and east of Euclid Street, just past 10:15 a.m., Anaheim police Sgt. Jacob Gallacher said. The driver was still at the scene when officers arrived, he said.
The 49-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
There were other people in the home at the time of the crash, Gallacher said, but no one had to be taken to a hospital.
