Anaheim police have identified a man who over the weekend was found dead inside of a car on West Ball Road, as well as the man suspected of killing him.
The victim was identified as 34-year-old Amado Francisco Lopez-Martinez of Anaheim, the Anaheim Police Department said in a Monday news release. The man who was detained at the scene was identified as 24-year-old Jorge Escamilla of Anaheim, who was arrested on suspicion of murder, police said.
Escamilla was being held in lieu of $1 million bail, authorities said.
Police declined to disclose the relationship between Escamilla and Lopez-Martinez as well as a possible motive in the killing.
On Sunday, police responded to the 1500 block of West Ball Road at 8:39 a.m. in regards to reports of a man screaming inside of a parked SUV. Police contacted Escamilla after he exited the SUV and found Lopez-Martinez inside suffering from stab wounds, authorities said Monday.
A knife was recovered from the scene, the Police Department said.
