CHICAGO – This time, Noah’s Ark might have deep-dish pizza on the menu.

It rained all day Thursday in Chicago, continuing into Friday. With no break in the forecast until late evening, the decision was made to postpone the opening game of the Dodgers’ three-game series with the Chicago Cubs four hours before the scheduled first pitch Friday afternoon.

The game will be made up as part of a split doubleheader on Saturday. The first game will start at 10:05 a.m. PT with the nightcap scheduled for 4:40 p.m. The weather is supposed to be cool – but dry.

Left-hander Tyler Anderson was scheduled to start Friday’s game and will likely move to Saturday’s doubleheader now. Left-hander Clayton Kershaw was scheduled to start Saturday.

The postponement gives the Dodgers their third day off in the past five days (fourth in the past nine days). They will make up for it in the next month.

Starting Saturday, the Dodgers face the most daunting stretch of their schedule. They are scheduled to play 31 games in 30 days with one off day (May 19 before a 10-day, three-city road trip) and two doubleheaders (Saturday and May 17 at Dodger Stadium against the Arizona Diamondbacks).
