Will Stahl and John Culley each had five goals Wednesday to lead St. Margaret’s boys lacrosse team to an 18-7 road win over Sierra Canyon in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs at Sierra Canyon High.
St. Margaret’s (19-1) will play Los Alamitos in the quarterfinals Friday.
Sophomore attackman Austin Hicks had three goals and an assist. Owen Binder had two goals and two assists, and Bryant University signee Matt Groeninger had two assists.
In other Division 1 games:
Foothill 15, Santa Margarita 5: Foothill jumped to a 10-2 halftime lead against Santa Margarita at Foothill High.
Gavin Griswold scored four goals and Luke Fox added three for the Knights (17-4).
Easton Jellerson scored a goal with a long stick with an assist from his brother Bode Jellerson. Dean Pistone had a goal and a pair of assists for Foothill, who will play Agoura in the quarterfinals.
Mater Dei 11, Yorba Linda 5: Mater Dei’s defense held Yorba Linda to just 9 shots in a convincing first-round win at Mater Dei High.
Monarchs goalie Nick Colignon had just one save due to the strong defensive play. Reese Lapham led Mater Dei (16-3) with three goals while Nate Chu and Cole Cristosomo each scored twice.
Yorba Linda (7-9) goalie Hunter Platt had an excellent game with 17 saves.
Mater Dei will travel to play Trabuco Hills in the quarterfinals. Trabuco Hills, the South Coast League champion, beat Mira Costa 18-11 Wednesday.
Division 2
San Juan Hills 16, Huntington Beach 7: Max Mullick had eight goals for San Juan Hills (13-6) in a first-round win over Huntington Beach at San Juan Hills High.
Sophomore Duke Devault had six points (3 goals, 3 assists) for the Stallions. Senior Chris Matthews had a game-high four assists.
Gavin Strauch and Logan Smith each scored twice for San Juan Hills. The Stallions will travel to play Peninsula on Friday.
Judah Ferrari-Cortez had a pair of goals for Huntington Beach and Lucas Parch had four points with three assists.
JSerra 16, San Marcos 5: Sophomore Jack Almy had seven points (4 goals, 3 assists) to lead JSerra to a rout of San Marcos of Santa Barbara.
Jared Referente and Gabe Seldow each scored four goals and Referente added two assists for JSerra (13-8).
Lions’ goalie Jack Neiger had eight saves. JSerra will play West Ranch in the second round Friday.
Division 3
Canyon 22, Roosevelt of Eastvale 9: Drew Demogines had 9 goals for Canyon (12-6) in a blowout win over Roosevelt of Eastvale in the first round of the Division 3 playoffs.
James Tran and Andrew Schuerger each had three goals for the Comanches.

Sophomore Casey Garcia won all 15 of his faceoff attempts. Canyon as a team won 27 of 29 faceoffs.
University 28, Linfield Christian 10: University scored a school-record 28 goals in a first-round win over Linfield Christian.
The Trojans will play Canyon in the quarterfinals Friday.
