A storm of short duration is expected to bring light rain to Southern California on Thursday evening, April 21, into Friday, meteorologists said Tuesday, April 19.

Most parts of the region can expect about one-tenth of an inch of rainfall during the storm, said Brandt Maxwell, meteorologist for the National Weather Service. Coastal mountain parts of Orange County can expect up to a quarter-inch of rain, Maxwell said.

The San Gabriel Mountains can expect a little more than one-tenth of an inch as well as gusty wind conditions, said Rich Thompson, meteorologist with the NWS.

But the storm’s duration wasn’t expected to exceed more than a few hours, Maxwell said. Conditions were expected to give way to partly cloud skies the remainder of Friday, both meteorologists said.

“It’s a fairly weak system,” Maxwell said.

The storm system was expected to make its way down from the Pacific Northwest, as it was about 1,000 miles west of Seattle as of Tuesday, Brandt said.

Mild temperatures are expected to persist through the week and dip into Friday, according to the NWS. Temperatures are expected to peak in the high 60s Friday in both coastal and inland regions throughout the region, the NWS said.
