Steve Fryer’s list of outstanding baseball players last week:

Hayden Carlson, Capistrano Valley Christian, Jr., Inf: He had seven hits over four wins last week, including a home run, two doubles, six RBIs and four stolen bases for the San Joaquin League-leading Eagles.

Paul Grossman, Northwood, Fr., P: He struck out 11 and allowed only two hits in the Timberwolves’ 4-1 win over Irvine in a Pacific Coast League game.

Auggie Gutierrez, Servite, Sr., 2B: Gutierrez was 7 for 10 with three doubles, a home run, five RBIs and four runs scored during the Friars’ three-game sweep of Mater Dei in the Trinity League.

Brian Knutsen, Savanna, Sr., P: Knutsen struck out 10 in his four-hit shutout in 14-0 win in an Orange League game.

Trent Liolios, Newport Harbor, Sr., P: He gave up only two hits over 6.2 innings with four strikeouts as the Sailors defeated Corona del Mar 6-1, part of a two-game sweep for Newport Harbor over their area rival.
