A Beach Boulevard Sustainability Fair will be held in West Anaheim from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 16.
This is a free event that will offer information and activities for a more sustainable lifestyle, including electric vehicle ride-and-drive options, a gardening workshop from 9 to 11 a.m. on California native plants, community resources, free dusk-to-dawn lights for Anaheim electric customers and activities for children, as well as raffles and refreshments.

Paper shredding event planned
A free paper shredding day will be held on April 23 in Downtown Anaheim.
A truck from Total-Shredding will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to take on approximately 400 boxes worth of documents. Light refreshments will be offered too.

Muzeo presents creator’s project
The Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center is offering the opportunity to share art with the museum through its Creator’s Block Project.
You can pick up a free 6-by-6-inch wooden panel at the Muzeo reception desk and return your completed art panel by May 8. There are no rules on what you create in your panel.
There will be an art sale from 3 to 5 p.m. on May 15 to purchase the original artworks, all proceeds will go to support the Muzeo’s unique community programs.
Also currently on exhibit is Hyun Ae Kang’s “Dialogues With the Sacred.” After visiting the display you can create your own painting in the traditional Danaekhwa Korean art style. The exhibit runs until May 15.

Keeping Anaheim tidy
The volunteer group, Green Bird Anaheim, is busy again cleaning up neighborhoods together.
Its next scheduled cleanup is April 30. Meet at 10 a.m. at Rosewood Barber Café, 135 W. Broadway, to help. Invite your neighbors too. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
At the library
The Anaheim Central Library has several events and programs available.
Among them is the Knights of the Square Table Chess Club, which is open to anyone interested in learning about and playing chess. All levels of experience are welcome. Check it out at 5 p.m. on April 19
There is also a 3D pens design workshop scheduled for 5 p.m. April 26 for anyone interested in building, designing, creating and exploring using technology art and your imagination. Ages 13 and older are welcome. RSVP to [email protected]
Design your Anaheim pride message
The Anaheim Community Pride Poster Contest has launched.
Presented by the city of Anaheim’s Department of Public Works and Code Enforcement Division and Republic Services, in partnership with the elementary school districts in town, the contest is open to students in first grade through sixth grade.
The contest’s purpose is to encourage beverage recycling and emphasize anti-littering and anti-graffiti.
The poster should convey one of these themes: Recycling, graffiti-free and litter-free.

Help Marines and families celebrate Easter
The Anaheim 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) Adoption Committee is preparing Easter baskets for the Marines and their families.
The 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit is the adopted unit of Anaheim at Camp Pendleton.
The Easter Basket Drive is collecting Easter baskets for the children and gift cards for the teens.

Authors talk mystery
The Anaheim Public Library Foundation is bringing back the Mystery Authors Luncheon after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.
This will be the 25th event and is scheduled for April 24 at Sheraton Park Hotel, 1855 S. Harbor Blvd. Tickets are $60 per person or $550 for a table of 10.
Guest authors are Wendall Thomas, Paige Shelton and Mike Befeler and the panel will be moderated by Matt Coyle.

Smart landscapes
The Anaheim Public Utilities is hosting its annual WaterSmart Landscape Award program.
The contest is open to Anaheim residents and businesses that have implemented California-friendly landscapes that excel in sustainable design, plant selection, water use efficiency and creativity.
