One person is dead after a hit-and-run collision at the intersection of Main Street and 14th Street around 2 a.m. Saturday, Santa Ana Police Department officials said.
An initial investigation revealed a 2021 Dodge Charger was traveling north on Main Street at high speed when it collided with a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado at the intersection. When officers arrived at the scene, the Chevrolet was overturned and the driver, who was the only person in the car, had succumbed to his injuries, a news release from the department said.
Information on the identity of the victim was not immediately available.
The driver of the Dodge and his passenger fled the scene and the driver was last seen entering a red SUV-type vehicle, police said. The driver was described as a male, approximately 30 to 35 years old and 200 pounds.
