A second day of a record-breaking heat wave broiled Southern California on Thursday, April 7.
LAX broke its record shortly before 2 p.m., when the temperature hit 94 degrees – one degree higher than the same date in 1989, according to the National Weather Service. Long Beach saw a new daily high when the temperature reached 97 degrees, breaking its 1989 record of 93 degrees.
