Want to earn $110,000 a year driving a truck — in your first year?
Walmart’s got your number.
On Thursday, the mega retailer announced it is boosting the pay for its private fleet of truck drivers, which includes more than 1,400 in California. The company is also launching a fleet-development program to train its next generation of drivers.
Those investments are designed to make Walmart an attractive company for drivers to work for, while also helping it keep pace with high customer demand.
Under the new pay scale, Walmart drivers can earn up to $110,000 their first year and more beyond that, depending on tenure and location, the company said. Walmart currently maintains a fleet of about 12,000 drivers.
