Angel City FC made two moves in hope of solidifying its lineup with the signing of German goalkeeper Almuth Schult and French midfielder Clarisse Le Bihan.

Schult, 31, who won an Olympic gold medal with Germany in 2016, currently plays for VfL Wolfsburg.

She will join Angel City in the summer following the European Championships. Wolfsburg is currently in the semifinals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League. She joins on a one-year contract, with an option for an additional year.

“I have followed Angel City since the day the team was announced,” Schult said. “It’s so impressive and unique. Everything is not only about football, it’s about impact and supporting women. I am proud to be joining the team and I look forward to the summer.”

During Angel City’s four NWSL Challenge Cup games, DiDi Haračić has started in goal, but in the last three games, the club has allowed 10 goals.

“Almuth is one of the best goalkeepers in the world with a host of winning accolades at the highest level of the game that will bring winning experience and a winning mentality to our group,” ACFC sporting director Eniola Aluko said.

Le Bihan, 27, joins Angel City from Montpelier in France on a two-year contract. She started her professional career in France in 2009.

“Clarisse is a highly technical, skilled, and hard-working midfielder who has lots of experience playing as a defensive midfielder and can also play in an advanced midfield role,” Aluko said.

Both players will occupy international roster spots.
