A man was arrested after Seal Beach police received multiple reports of a man brandishing a firearm at the pier Sunday afternoon, police said in a news release Tuesday, April 5.
The firearm was actually a replica Airsoft 9mm “Beretta” BB gun. The BB gun usually has an orange tip, but it was removed an a tactical light was added.
Witnesses told police Austin Heesung Lee, 30, of Santa Fe Springs, was involved in an argument at the end of the pier and took out the gun and pointed it at several people, the release said.
Lee fled towards Main Street, police said, but was found by officers shortly after and was detained without incident. He was booked at the Seal Beach Jail for drawing or exhibiting imitation firearm in a threatening manner and later was released on a citation.
