Coronavirus: Orange County reported 129 new cases and five more deaths, March 30

The OC Health Care Agency reported 129 more cases of the coronavirus on Wednesday, March 30. That increases the cumulative total since tracking began in the county to 546,880.

There were 102 people in Orange County hospitals with coronavirus on Wednesday, including 17 who needed to be in intensive care units.

The county reported five more deaths on Wednesday, increasing the count of those who have died from the virus in Orange County to 6,880.

The data on deaths in the county is compiled from death certificates, or gathered through the course of case investigations, and can take weeks to process. The most recent death recorded was on March 22.

Of the 6,880 deaths reported from the virus, 1,316 were skilled nursing facility residents, 699 were in assisted living facilities, two were O.C. jail inmates, and 21 were listed as homeless.

It is estimated 536,567 people have recovered from the virus. The count of people who have recovered is based on the prior 28-day cumulative case count.
