A large fire damaged a furniture store in Santa Ana on Monday morning, March 28.

Firefighters were called to a blaze at Z Furniture Outlet in the 1200 block of W. First Street at around 7:25 a.m., according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Greg Barta. Firefighters battled a “significant” amount of fire at the two-story structure, with the fire knocked down in about 30 minutes, he said.

“Firefighters did a good job fighting the fire aggressively, we were able to save a significant portion of the building,” he said. “But there is significant damage to the structure.”

The fire having been at a furniture store likely contributed to how large the blaze was and how intensely it burned, according to Barta.

“There were a lot of items to burn, so that was definitely a factor in this one,” he said.
