Jaime Jaquez Jr. and the fourth-seeded UCLA Bruins traveled to Philadelphia for a game against eighth-seeded North Carolina in the Sweet 16. This will be the third time the two college basketball blue bloods have ever met in the tournament.
Jaquez’s availability for Friday’s game has been a popular topic regarding the Bruins this week. He suffered an ankle injury during the game against St. Mary’s last week but is still expected to play tonight. Jaquez did participate in UCLA’s practice on Thursday, after telling reporters that he is still “day to day.”
UCLA coach Mick Cronin indicated that Jaquez will attempt to play against the Tar Heels.
“Jaime is going to try, guys,” Cronin said. “Unless something happens. Question is, will he be effective?”
