The OC Health Care Agency reported 171 new cases of the coronavirus on Friday, March 25, increasing the cumulative total since tracking began in the county to 546,269.

There were 3,719 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the last two-week period as of Friday.

There were 129 people in Orange County hospitals with coronavirus on Friday, including 24 who needed to be in intensive care units.

The county reported three more death on Friday, increasing the count of those who have died from the virus in Orange County to 6,860.

The data on deaths in the county is compiled from death certificates, or gathered through the course of case investigations, and can take weeks to process. The most recent death recorded was on March 14.

Of the 6,860 deaths reported from the virus, 1,314 were skilled nursing facility residents, 698 were in assisted living facilities, two were O.C. jail inmates, and 21 were listed as homeless.

It is estimated 535,625 people have recovered from the virus. The count of people who have recovered is based on the prior 28-day cumulative case count.
