Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man who earlier this month punched an employee inside the Anaheim Central Library and walked out, leaving the second man unconscious on the floor, authorities said.

Surveillance video from the library, released by police, shows the employee walking along when the suspect punches him in the head, causing the employee to fall backward and hit his head on the ground.

The attack occurred about 6:15 p.m. on March 3, a Thursday.

The suspect, described as in his late 20s or early 30s, stares at the employee before walking out of the library as a group of onlookers, some of them children, make their way toward the man to help, the video shows.

The victim suffered a cut to the back of his head and was hospitalized, Anaheim police Sgt. Shane Carringer said.

The suspect was wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt with red drawstrings, light-brown pants, and a Los Angeles Dodgers baseball cap. He was carrying multiple bags with clothing items;  police said he may be homeless.

There was no indication that the two men knew each other, Sgt. Jacob Gallacher said Friday morning, March 25. It also wasn’t known if the suspect had previously visited the library before the day of the attack.
