Coronavirus: Orange County reported 111 new cases and 10 more deaths, March 23

The OC Health Care Agency reported 111 new cases of the coronavirus on Wednesday, March 23, increasing the cumulative total since tracking began in the county to 546,019.

There had been 4,277 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the last 14 days as of Wednesday.

There were 123 people reported in Orange County hospitals with coronavirus on Wednesday, including 26 who needed to be in intensive care units.

The county also reported 10 more deaths on Wednesday, increasing the count of those who have died from the virus in Orange County to 6,856.

The data on deaths in the county is compiled from death certificates, or gathered through the course of case investigations, and can take weeks to process. The most recent death recorded was on March 13.

Of the 6,856 deaths reported from the virus, 1,314 were skilled nursing facility residents, 698 were in assisted living facilities, two were O.C. jail inmates, and 21 were listed as homeless.

It is estimated 535,056 people have recovered from the virus. The count of people who have recovered is based on the prior 28-day cumulative case count.
