Former Rams tight end Gerald Everett is returning to Los Angeles to wear powder blue.
Everett agreed to join the Chargers, his agency announced Sunday. It’s a two-year, $12 million deal with a max value of $13.5 million, with $8 million fully guaranteed, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Everett, 27, played for the Seattle Seahawks last year after spending his first four seasons with the Rams. The 6-foot-3, 240-pound Everett recorded 48 catches for 478 yards and four touchdowns last season.
Everett will likely take over as the Chargers’ starting tight end and will reunite with Chargers coach Brandon Staley, who was the Rams’ defensive coordinator in 2020.

The Chargers also will return tight end Donald Parham Jr., who showed signs of improvement last year as a receiver and blocker, but he’s not as polished or as experienced as Everett. Second-year tight end Tre’ McKitty was primarily used as a blocker last season, but Chargers coaches have expressed optimism about his upside in the passing game.
Everett will take over for veteran tight end and free agent Jared Cook, who struggled to find chemistry with quarterback Justin Herbert last year in his first season with the Chargers.
Everett, the Rams’ 2107 second-round pick, has 175 career receptions with 76 games played and 23 starts. Everett is the second former Rams player to join the Chargers this offseason, following the addition of defensive tackle Sebastian Joseph-Day.
