A 76-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on Tuesday, March 3, after Huntington Beach police found a woman dead of a gunshot wound in a home, police said.

Officers were called to the 19000 block of Brookhurst Street about 10 a.m. in response to multiple calls about a family disturbance with shots fired, police said.

After no one answered the front door, officers forced their way in, detained Robert Alvarez of Huntington Beach and then found the victim, police said.

Detectives found evidence and conducted interviews, then arrested Alvarez, police said.

Further details were not immediately released by the department. The woman’s name was being withheld pending notification of her relatives.
