Freebie of the week: How kids can get a free tree to plant

Rent Computer Hardware You Need, When You Need It

Don’t we all love trees? We couldn’t breathe without them. But did you know there’s a group called Neighborhood Forest that gives kids free trees to plant?

So how does your kid get one? Check and see if any of your local schools, libraries or youth groups are participating in the “free tree” distribution. If so, then you just have to sign up and then arrange to pick up your tree on Earth Day, April 22. If not, try to persuade your employer to get involved.

Neighborhood Forest says there are 3,500 participating organizations and kids have planted trees from them 280,000 times since 2020.

Here’s just a few participants: Bridges Charter School, Thousand Oaks; Portola High School Irvine; Temecula Public Library; Apperson St. Elementary School, Sunland; Alamos Owls PTA, Murrieta and many more.

Sign-ups are open now through March 15, and trees will arrive the week of Earth Day in April.
