Northwood and Laguna Hills’ girls water polo teams both had their postseason runs halted in the CIF-SS semifinals Tuesday.

Northwood fell to visiting San Dimas 6-4 in the Division 3 semifinals while Laguna Hills fell to San Bernardino 6-4 in the Division 5 semifinals at San Gorgonio High.

After a scoreless opening period, San Dimas (16-15) scored four goals in the second period to take a 4-0 lead at halftime.

Northwood (18-16) trimmed its deficit to 5-2 going into the fourth period but San Dimas advanced to face Glendora in Saturday’s final at Mt. SAC.

Glendora, which beat San Juan Hills 16-8 in the quarterfinals, handled Chaparral 15-4 in the other semifinal.

Senior Georgia Downs scored two goals and junior Cassidy McCallon made nines saves for Northwood, an at-large entry from the Pacific Coast League.

Laguna Hills (13-6), ranked 16th in Division 5, reached the semifinals for the first time. In the final Saturday, fourth-seeded San Bernardino will play Edgewood of West Covina at Mt. SAC.

The semifinals continue Wednesday at the Woollett Aquatics Center in Irvine.

In Division 1, Foothill and Beckman clash at 3 p.m. followed by San Clemente-Agoura at 4:30 p.m.

In the Open Division, it will Mater Dei-San Marcos at 6 p.m. and Newport Harbor-Oaks Christian at 7:30 p.m.

The Division 1 and Open Division finals will also be played at Mt. SAC on Saturday.
