Police Wednesday sought additional potential victims connected to a 63-year-old man suspected of sexually assaulting a child in Irvine.
Ruediger Luzian Aldred Smith, also known as Rudy Smith, of Irvine, was taken into custody on Tuesday and booked into the Orange County Jail, stemming from an allegation on Friday of sexual abuse that occurred at an apartment building on Cardiff, according to the Irvine Police Department.
Police said a child reported being sexually assaulted by Smith over the course of two years while under his supervision.
Detectives determined that Smith is suspected of having unsupervised contact with multiple children and believe there are additional potential victims.
Anyone with information regarding the alleged assault or additional victims wanting to come forward was urged to contact Detective Rebecca Steen at rsteen@cityofirvine.org
