Freebie of the week: Culinary journey through chocolate in Seal Beach

Rent Computer Hardware You Need, When You Need It

If you’re a chocolate lover or you just like history, this is for you. The Orange County library is holding a free series of Culinary History classes, led by Maite Gomez-Rejón of ArtBites and the Hungry for History podcast, including the upcoming one at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21 at Los Alamitos-Rossmoor Library.

The class will explore the history of cacao from its Mesoamerican beginnings to today, including how it was cultivated, traded, sweetened and became the chocolate we know today.

Depending on space available, participants will also have a chance to make truffles. Space is limited to 25 people. So I’d register now at 562-430-1048 and get there early. (Coming in April: The history of popcorn. Yum.) 12700 Montecito Road, Seal Beach. ocpl.org/culinary-history
